Our client: Franco-Nevada
The brief and what we did: We conducted a sustainability due diligence of a new mining development in Africa, in a location with material social, water stewardship and biodiversity sensitivities. The review focused on compliance with applicable multilateral development bank standards, a review of the project developers’ organisational capacity, as well as focused assessment of permitting, environmental and social risks. A desk-based and site visit were completed.
The outcome: Project execution and lender compliance risks were identified, with corresponding practical recommendations to enable direct communication with the project developer and tracking of implementation.
