Supply Chain Mapping and Factory Improvement Programmes

Our client: A fashion and retail industry supply chain

The brief and what we did: This project involved mapping the supply chain of a large Europe headquartered online fashion retailer across various tiers in the clothes and shoe sector, to gain more transparency of the supply base and a better understanding of existing and potential labour and human rights risks and impacts. It involved over 400 factories and suppliers in 10 countries in Europe and Asia.

The outcome: We designed and implemented country-tailored compliance and ‘beyond audit’ factory improvement programmes across factories in Europe and Asia. The programme built capacity on topics such as productivity, worker wellbeing, health and safety, social insurance and empowering women at work.

We developed KPIs and an evaluation framework to monitor the impact of the programmes and demonstrate verifiable improved conditions for workers and better business results. End surveys demonstrated that the implementation of the programmes led to a number of improvements, including increased worker satisfaction, and lower absenteeism, staff turnover, and accident and incident rates.
