Our client: A European energy company
The brief and what we did: We conducted a climate risk assessment for a major European energy network operator. Physical risk and transition risks were assessed for their existing operating assets as well as potential expansion scenarios. We collaborated with a team of climate scientists and hydrologists working with the clients’ asset operations and future project planning departments.
The comprehensive assessment included potential transition risks within a multi-jurisdictional regulatory environment, reputational/perception and technology changes, as well as the acute and chronic physical risks associated with changing climatic conditions.
The outcome: We provided our client with simple and actionable recommendations to support adaptation, build climate resilience, and improve governance to manage potential impacts and strengthen reporting. The recommendations were supported by a granular assessment using a mixture of quantitative and qualitative assessment approaches.
